As part of Nissan's partnership with the British Paralympic Association, the Nissan Innovation Station inside the O2 offered visitors a wheelchair racing experience. The aim was to give people a real feel for what it takes to race a wheelchair, and the chance to race against Paralympian Richard Chiassaro, the UK's number 1 in the T54 200m, or against their mates.
We worked closely with Nissan's experiential agency TRO to create the game. We built a 3D avatar of Richard and 6 other athletes for players to choose from, and modelled a full-size stadium with an animated crowd to make the experience truly believable. Players sit in a life-size racing wheelchair on a purpose-built rolling road, and control their speed as they race against Richard.
